For Harley Hamernik of the Leigh-Clarkson FFA Chapter in Nebraska, his proficiency area is a family business. His father, grandfather and uncle began a plumbing and well-drilling business in the 1970s that he has learned the ins and outs of. Under the paternal mentorship, he has learned to dig wells, plumb houses and lay water and drain lines that bring water to livestock. Hamernik has reached the point where he can go out on calls without supervision, working with clients and ensuring customer satisfaction. He is supported by his parents Arlene and Dave and his FFA advisor Don Tyser.
